Our Rating:

+ The Shield is EXTREMELY thin, which makes it very comfortable to carry. + Even though it is thin, it handles recoil very well. The M&P Series of pistols have some of the most comfortable grips I’ve ever felt. + It is very corrosion resistant, like most modern polymer handguns. + It comes with one magazine with an extension, and one without.

- The sights are great, but night sights would be a plus for low light conditions.

I have used and owned one or another variation of Sig Sauer’s pistols for almost 25 years.  During that time, I have never been disappointed by any of the pistols that I have had the pleasure to use.  I purchased my Sig P220 in 2010.  I’ve fired my pistol at local ranges, on my deer lease, and in local “bragging rights” competitions with my friends.  The P220 has never failed me and I have come to appreciate the pistol to such a degree that I would stake the lives of my family and myself upon the knowledge that this pistol will work every time I pick it up.  I know that we have all heard others talk about this or that pistol being better than all others.  I’ll not say that here.  I will tell you that my P220 stands shoulder to shoulder with the best pistols out there and I’ll defend that statement to the bitter end.

Our Rating:  I really enjoy how well it shoots. Very easy to acquire your next target with the front red fiber sight and black rear sight. Slide serrations and grips are pleasing to the eye.

- Base of front sight extends too far out and scraps kydex off of some holsters

What do you think? If there is someone who doesn’t like the G17 Gen4 for some other reason than personal preference then I sure would like to know why.  I understand some people may not shoot Glock as well as they shoot another gun due to their body type or their personal mechanics.  The G17 Gen4 has really set the bar high as far as reliability goes, and you can’t get any more simple in the operation of the gun.  It’s rugged and trusted by law enforcement agents worldwide.  Popularity is not always the best way to determine a product’s quality but when lives are at stake, popularity is probably the biggest factor to consider.
