Negrini Compact Handgun Case Review

Negrini Compact Handgun Case Often when I visit the range and see other shooters bring their gear to the bench or when I visit a friend's house and they wish to show off their new pistol, I see cheap or make-shift cases. It sort of makes me cringe, seeing someone spend hundreds of dollars on addons, accessories, magazines, and ammunition, yet still toss their firearm into a $10 plastic case from Walmart, or simply holster-n-chuck into a tool bag for a trip to the gun club. Most gun owners think of $200-$300 Pelican cases when asked about a premium portable, locking, and sealed storage. I am pleased to correct them, and introduce them to a case manufacturer out of Italy called Negrini.

Negrini Compact Handgun Case

Negrini makes fine gun cases in all shapes and sizes, for shotguns, rifles, and pistols. Many Negrini case owners are traveling hunters and outdoorsman going on Safaris. These hunters will be facing dangerous game and scenarios that can go south in a mere second, you think they would trust their firearms with airport baggage handlers in just any gun case? I don't think so. For the ultimate protection of the firearm that you depend on for your own protection, Negrini cases are world renowned.

Negrini Compact Handgun Case

The Negrini Compact Handgun Case is small enough to stow at the top of a closet, under a bed, or any other small space. The dual briefcase-style locks are a great benefit for gun owners to be sure their stored handgun is tamper-proof, especially from curious youths. The outer shell is constructed of high-rubber content ABS plastic, which is designed to absorb shock without fracturing. The internal materials and resins used are chosen specifically for anti-corrosive, no off-gassing and temperature insensitivity.

Negrini Compact Handgun Case

The "Pluck-N-Pull" foam insert allows for the user to customize the fit to a specific handgun or handguns, depending on the tolerances you choose to leave. The foam is partially diecut from the factory in a square grid pattern. By pinching a square and pulling away from the surrounding squares, you can begin the form the firearm's shape. A blade may come in handy for the first few squares, until you get a negative space in which your fingers can get more leverage upon the "pluck." I found that plucking a shape to conform to a 1911 compact, a Glock 19 also fits the space nicely. While I will primarily use the case to transport a 1911, its nice to be able to fit other models in the case when necessary. I would definitely recommend making the gun shape first, then proceeding with slots for magazines or accessories lastly.

Negrini Compact Handgun Case

It's no secret that products made in Italy are known for fine quality and craftsmanship. While this case comes nowhere near the sticker shock of a Lamborghini, it is a great investment for your firearm at a modest price most any gun owner can afford.

Negrini Dedicated 1911 Handgun Case Review

negrini2 For those unfamiliar with Negrini you should definitely familiarize yourself with them. To me, they bridge the gap between wanting security/strong construction and lightweight/slim construction. If you want something more sturdy than your average thin plastic case with flimsy foam, but don’t want to sacrifice half your trunk to get your pistol to the range, this case by Negrini is a great choice. Although built and marketed as a dedicated 1911 case it can fit, and store securely, most medium to full size pistols. When you add built in locks it makes legally transporting in some states easier it is one of the most versatile single pistol cases I have seen.

Lifeproof iPhone Case Review

Lifeproof iPhone Case colors Picking a case for your smartphone is kinda like picking shoes these days. There is a function to the form, and yet there is a plethora of aesthetic options out there that sometimes leads to the primary purpose of the object being diminished. Shoes protect the feet, period. Same goes for a phone case.  It's purpose is to protect (or encase) your phone, protecting it from accidental and negligent damage.  Then home come the majority of the phone cases on the store shelves are purely plastic carbon copies, merely cheaply made shells with pretty colors? They cover the back of the phone and the sides, but what if you drop it on it's screen? Toast. Or if it drops in the toilet, or you spill your coffee on it in the morning on the way to work?

If you're like me, I waited awhile to get a smartphone. Not until it was free under my carrier, but mostly as my professional life needed it as a tool. I chose not to pay a monthly insurance on my new phone, as I felt I'd be pretty careful with it. We all get complacent with things we use on a daily basis, and I've dropped and had near catastrophic splash downs too many times to count. After literally wearing a Magpul Field Case out, I decided to research a better replacement that would actually do what a phone cover should do, protect your phone from yourself, and the elements. What I found was the Lifeproof iPhone Case.

Lifeproof iPhone Cases

It didn't take me long to find the Lifeproof series of cases in my research.  Not only were they waterproof, shockproof, dustproof, and snowproof, but they didn't make it look like I was smuggling a brick in my pants. The price was high, but with the claims of protection and color options available, I thought I would bite. Turns out I bit twice, as I could not make up my mind between orange and camo. Not to contradict myself about the whole color / accesorizing / superficial rant, but as a sportsman those two colors really appeased me. I ended up sticking with the orange, because I could honestly see myself losing the phone in the woods, in a pile of camo gear, or at the bottom of a creek or pond. Orange would be something I could spot and dive after, or not accidentally sit on. However the Realtree camo pattern really has the cool factor, and if I spent more time in the office and no time outdoors with my phone I would have totally gone with it. For now Firearms Insider Orange is how I roll.

colors

The case comes in two parts, front and back. Installation is easy enough, you clean your phone and the inside of both cases really, really well. Like a father cleaning his gun on his daughter's prom night. Any dirt, specs, hair, etc. will prevent the O-ring from achieving a proper seal and you will be susceptible to water leaking in. But the two halves snap together with some force and feel really solid together, the seams should close tightly if you cleaned correctly. There's a threaded plug to keep water and crud out of your audio port, and the case comes with an adapter for headphones since the regular jacks wont fit without it, my advice is order two extra. Also, the case may not let your phone fit in a stereo dock, but that's a minor inconvenience that's pales to the security you get.

Lifeproof also makes cases for Samsung Galaxy, iPads, and the new iPhones. Yes the pricetag is a bit steep but the first time you drop or spill on your phone, it certainly paid for itself. Hard to beat that logic.

What others are saying?: “Previously my daughter had an Otterbox (and it cracked). So I really had to question my daughter when she bought her case because of the cost. Less then a week after purchasing it she lost it in a snow bank. It was outside in the snow & rain for 5 days. Both my husband and I had our doubts but when it was found the phone worked just fine like nothing ever happened to it. I will now be purchasing a case for my phone soon! Pelican 1015 Micro Case Review

TJG Pelican 1015 Main Pelican Products is one of the most bragged upon brands of gear cases advertising “the toughest airtight and waterproof protective cases on the planet”. I got this size case to replace a cheaper case that I kept in the front pocket of my Maxpedition Fatboy VersipackTJG Pelican 1015 Open. The case claims to be crushproof, which I can attest to. Another reviewer put that claim to the test by parking his car on top of it. His came out fine, but mine wasn’t so lucky. The case was not crushed, but the hinge cracked a little. It is still completely usable, but it’s just a little cracked up, now(but still water resistant). Pelican does not state this case as waterproof, but water-resistant. I have seen a few tests that make me confident that this case truly is waterproof. There is a pressure relief valve on the case, which means that you can carry or pack it on an airplane without the pressure change crushing the case. There are two loops that you could thread a strap through and a ring where you can put a carabiner or cord for multiple carrying options. If anyone needs a heavy-duty, water-tight, crushproof case for any gear, I would highly recommend Pelican Cases. They are available in larger and smaller sizes to accommodate many needs.

What other aesthetic options or finishes are available?: Pelican only shows this case available in clear with different color liners, but when I received mine from Amazon, it was all black. There are multiple liner colors available, like black, blue, red, and yellow. I would say “Buyer Beware” as I’m honestly not sure whether you would get a clear or colored case. There is even a version specifically for iPhones that has a waterproof headphone cable and a cord management system.
