Oddly enough, the model I have is not easily located online.  However this knife was purchased in person at Walmart.  This model is a Walmart exclusive but the features are all the same except for the grips.  That being said, there are a few different models of the Funxion depending on what your needs are.  Kershaw Funxion EMT There’s the Funxion EMT, Funxion DIY, and Funxion Outdoor.  Looking at the DIY, I’d suggest getting the EMT because it has everything the DIY has plus a cord cutter and blade serrations.

Duluth Trading Company Scout Seat Saver

Scout Seat Saver

By Jared Auchter

Muddy paws, pet hair and drool .... oh my.  Just thinking about any of those things in the backseat of my new pickup truck is enough to make me quiver.  Let's also not forget this scenario either.  You're driving down the road and all of a sudden, you have to slam on your brakes.  The last thing you ever want to see happen is your beloved bird dog go sliding off the back seat and down onto the floor with your shotguns, potentially injuring them...and the dog.

The folks at Duluth have come up with yet another great solution and they call it the Scout Seat Saver.  Simply loop the adjustable straps around your headrests and you are good to go.  The center of the cover has a great quilted area so that your bird dog has a more comfortable place to hang out.  When the cover gets dirty or just needs a good cleaning, you can easily throw it in the wash.  I have owned one of these for almost a year now and I absolutely love it.  So if you're like me and want to keep your dog safe but your backseat protected, get yourself a Scout Seat Saver.

It also doubles as a barrier between curious eyes in the parking lot and your firearms if you want to stow them on the back floor board.

Out of the box, this holster was just a little too tight for my liking.  However Comp-Tac provides you with a wrench that will allow you to adjust the holster to your preference. Within a couple of minutes I was able to adjust the tension, cant and depth just the way I prefer.  Ever since the adjustment, the holster has been riding in the same exact spot.  The retention on this holster is very good, yet it allows the gun to be drawn easy enough.  I personally find this holster to be extremely comfortable and strangely enough, it seems to make the gun feel lighter.  The kydex shell is replaceable, this allows you to keep your holster and you only need to buy a new piece if you buy a new gun.  One nice thing I noticed about this holster is this, you can tuck a shirt into your pants and the only thing that is noticeable are the two clips. With some of the other offered clips available,  the gun would be even less noticeable.  Overall, I would definitely recommend this holster.

Parabellum Armament AK-Adaptive Rail System - AKARS

RC-AKARS01.jpg

Parabellum Armament AK-Adaptive Rail System - AKARS 1

By Ryan Cross

One of the biggest differences I’ve found from an owner’s standpoint, between the AK variant rifle and its American rival the AR-15, is the availability of mounting options for scopes, red dot sights, or reflex optics. A simple Google Image search for optic mounted AK platforms would result in dozens of aftermarket railed forend (in front of the rear sight), or alternatively with an offset rail that mounts to the side of the receiver (if your rifle has the appropriate hardware already installed) that hovers the mount just above the dust cover. I was not very interested in pursuing either of these options for this particular Romanian WASR-10 with traditional wood furniture. In fact, after sanding and refinishing the wood of both the stock and the handguard, I was keen on keeping them. On my first outing with the firearm, I gave my jaw quite the jarring when using the iron sights, for which I am blaming my stylish but non-ergonomic corrective lenses. Must be why the ruskies always hip fired their AK’s in the 007 movies, no?

I was at a crossroads. I have quite a few cheap red dot sights laying around with no home. I wanted to shoot the WASR-10 accurately and more efficiently (sans the black eye). So, invest in an aluminum picatinny railed handguard and remove the rustic wood I was so fond of? Or use a side mount that would never truly be concentric with the bore, and also add bulk to the rifle. I’m not the strictest purist out there, but wanted a happy medium between a functional and effective mount for an optic and keeping the rifle as traditional as possible.Parabellum Armament AK-Adaptive Rail System - AKARS 2

My search quickly lead me to the AKARS system by Parabellum Armament. My initial positive impressions were that I could mount a red dot sight right on the dust cover with a good 6-8 inches of eye relief, with no permanent modifications to the gun. The last thing I need is another project gun and another dedicated drawer to extra parts. The install was moderately easy, and I sure am happy with the results. Good groups, repeatable zero, doesn’t interfere with cleaning, and more importantly I can use a better cheek weld. Just because your rifle has been battle-proven, doesn’t mean your face has to look like its been in a battle as well!

Claim to Fame:  Provides installation of a rail system without permanent modifications.

Target Market:  Saiga or AK type variant owners wanting a rail for mounting optics.

FNBs Key Features:

  • Installs with no permanent modifications to your rifle.
  • Aligns better with bore than side mounts.
  • Adjusts to different tolerances of AK type firearms, via a sliding rear mounting block on the dust cover that interfaces with the rail via two pins.
  • WILL NOT FIT: Yugo (Zastava) AK variants (M70, M72, M92), AKS-74U, or Romanian PSL Rifles
  • MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail
  • Integral rear sight notch (non-adjustable)
  • Enables lower ⅓ cowitness with micro red dot sights
  • Made in USA

Key Benefits:

  • Repeatable zero when rail is swung up/dust cover is removed for maintenance
  • Reduces or Eliminates ‘Dust Cover Wobble’
  • New Dust cover included is stronger steel than original

Our Rating + Excellent fit on test rifle, Romanian Wasr-10 + Included dust cover is thicker, better quality than the original + Picatinny slots are T-marked for repeatable mounting position + Much prefered mounting position as opposed to forward / railed forend position + Did not lose zero after repeated firing/opening & closing of dust cover + More accurate and convenient than side rail / dogleg option

- Installation was pretty difficult, only because of tension on test rifle’s rear sight leaf spring, took approximately 45 minutes for my install without a vise or press. - The newer AKARS’ rear sight is a ‘U’ notch, and is a bitter wide for my liking/precision use of irons. - Price is a bit stiff for two pieces of metal, but such is the hobby we chose! - Slight eyesore of Parabellum Armament / Rail system name printed on the side of rail.

Browning Shoulder Saver REACTAR NTS Shirt

Browning-REACTAR-shirt.jpg

Browning REACTAR shirt

By Jared Auchter

If you have ever done a high volume shoot with a hunting rifle or a shotgun, you know first hand how much abuse your shoulders can take.  While that black and blue mark on your shoulder is often a "badge of honor" to how much fun we had, let's be honest, it's still a pain.

While you don't want to have too many layers on to misguide the positioning of the gun to your shoulder, you still want a little something there to help reduce some of the recoil.  Personally, I feel that Browning did a good job in designing the REACTAR shirt and pad so that they are thin enough to be effective, but not too thick so that its cumbersome to position your gun.

I find that after shooting 100+ sporting clays with a 12 gauge shotgun, the next day I have no black and blues and my shoulder is only slightly tender to the touch.  Overall, I am very pleased with the product and will definitely be wearing it on all my sporting clay shoots.

Trijicon Bright & Tough Night Sights SG03

Trijicon Night Sights

By Devin Blystone

The sights pictured above were produced in ‘04 and they still shine just as bright as the day that I purchased them.  As of today, I have not yet had the chance to do any live firing with these sights in low light conditions, but dry firing with them has been extremely helpful. Even in the pitch black you can still line your sights up on target without a problem. However shooting with them in daylight isn't anything spectacular.  I find them to be  just the same as shooting with standard sights.  The glowing effect is made possible by tritium-phosphor lamps.  If the sights get just a little bit of natural light, they will hold their glow for a while.  The Trijicon sights come in options of yellow, green, and orange.  All front sights come in green, which happens to have the longest glow. Trijicon Night Sights 2 Both the yellow and the green carry a warranty of 12 years.  The orange sights only come with a 5 year warranty. Before I made my purchase, I did some research and discovered a review that stated that the Trijicon sights lasted 19 years before they burnt out on the owner. Personally, I have never come across a complaint about Trijicon Night Sights.  With my personal experience added in, I can completely understand why. These sights are a luxury item that you don’t need, but you would find quite handy on your daily carry or your bedside gun. Unfortunately for me,  Trijicon does not offer sights out of the box for my daily carry gun.  However, if you happen to have some extra cash on hand, Trijicon recommends a specialty shop that will custom fit sights to your particular gun.  My overall opinion is that I would recommend getting these sights for any gun that you carry daily, nightly or plan on using in low light situations.

Magpul AR15 MS3 Quick Detach Sling

magpul_ms3_sling_review5.jpg

Magpul MS3 Sling 1

By Brad West

Magpul is best known for making high quality products at an affordable price. Their wide variety of collapsible stocks, magazines, and back up sights, typically made of polymer, are regarded as some of the best and most widely used in the industry. However, polymer isn't the thing in Magpul's bag of tricks. Introducing the Magpul AR15 Multi-Mission Sling System, or simply the MS3. There are many sling offerings on the market from a variety of manufacturers - from one-point to traditional two-point as well as quick-detach, but the Magpul MS3 design captures all three features into a single high-quality offering.

The MS3 feels hefty in the hand and sports 1.25 inch nylon webbing which Magpul boasts as anti-chaff. On each end are Magpul's patented Symmetrical Paraclip shackles to provide quick release when putting your rifle away or transitioning from single-point to two-point configurations. An additional and useful feature included in the paraclip shackles are cross-bolt lock bars which allow the user to lock the clips into place - preventing any accidental or unwanted detaches. The paraclip levers are made of steel and are case hardened to provide resistance to wear and corrosion and are housed by Magpul's own infamous blend of hardened polymer.Magpul MS3 Sling 4

A convenience feature of the MS3 that I have found to be most welcome is the adjustment loop which allows for easy tightening and loosening of tension with a single hand while wearing your rifle in the traditional two-point configuration. However, Magpul isn't the only game in town when it comes to single handed tension adjustments. VTAC amongst others offer their own products with single handed tension adjustments.

What separates the MS3 from similar products on the market is its ability to function as either a one or two point sling. I've found this flexibility to be very convenient during training classes, as you can switch configurations in a matter of seconds with no additional hardware required. To convert to one-point configuration, you simply attach the paraclip on one end of the sling to the polymer hoop located roughly 3/4 of the way down the opposite end of the sling, leaving a single paraclip to attach to your existing quick detach point on your butt stock or behind your castle nut. Though I highly recommend purchasing some D-Ring style quick detach swivels to use with the sling, as the paraclip shackles are a bit too large and do not move as freely as needed when used with standard-size quick detach rings. The larger D-Rings will allow the paraclip shackles to move more freely - preventing unwanted tangling and is really my only complaint with the MS3.

I have owned the MS3 for a couple of months now and have used it in a couple of tactical AR training classes. Overall, the MS3 is no Magpul MS3 Sling 6exception when it comes to the quality that I've come to expect from Magpul. It is extremely durable and I have not experienced any accidental detaches to date. Additionally, having worn this sling during a training class in 110 degree Texas summer heat, I can say that the nylon webbing does remain comfortable even when wearing a t-shirt and covered in sweat, dirt, and sunburn. That kind of flexibility and comfort puts this sling on the top of my list for must have items for any AR training class.

XS Xpress Threat Interdiction Sights

XS-TI-Sight-2.jpg

XS TI Sight 2

By Steve Remy

These sights are primarily designed for shooters who compete in matches and need general accuracy at a maximum range of 25 yards. They are used to provide an alternative aiming platform when a magnified optic is mounted to the top rail of a rifle, considering magnification would make sub-25 yard shots difficult. The tritium front sight allows for sight acquisition in low light conditions which was a nice touch.

Out of the package these sights are built very solid and have a very nice fit and finish. XS also includes everything you need for a successful installation, except for a flathead screwdriver. This includes the sights themselves, a sight adjustment tool, a small allen wrench, a small tube of thread locker, and printed instructions. As instructed, I installed the sights to allow as long of a sight distance as possible between the front and rear sight.

Here is where things start to get ugly. By design these sights are very low profile which was the manufacturer’s effort to ensure they don’t snag on anything. The consequence to this design is that the sights rest extremely close to the bore of the rifle which doesn’t allow most people to use the sights without raising the buttstock nearly above their shoulder, thus losing their shoulder pocket and cheek weld. I tried every way of holding the rifle I could but I could never seem to easily acquire the sights and still have a decent backstop for the recoil of the rifle. I had five other experienced shooters attempt to use the sights and everyone provided the same feedback that they were too low profile for easy acquisition and use. Considering they didn’t work for me or any of the other five shooters, I would bet the majority of purchasers would be disappointed with these sights, unfortunately. A search of other reviews confirms that I was not in the minority of people who had these problems. I believe it would take a considerable amount of practice to effectively use these sights properly.

There is a little bit of silver lining to this dark cloud though, in the form of XS’ customer service. I phoned their customer service line to ask about the low profile design and ensure installation was done properly. First and foremost, I was never on hold waiting for my call to be answered; it was answered immediately by someone who knew what they were talking about. I spoke with an individual (name withheld to protect the innocent) who was courteous, friendly, and extremely helpful. He explained why the sights were designed to be low profile and admitted the sight design didn’t always work for everyone. He then proceeded to give me a laundry list of things I could do to try and make the sights work for me, which was much appreciated. He mentioned it would be helpful to break my cheek weld and bring the buttstock higher on my shoulder (which I had previously tried), and stated the low recoil of a .223/5.56 would allow for this. This tactic may work for some but it was still mighty uncomfortable for me. He also mentioned trying to roll the rifle to the 10 o’clock position instead of the 3 o’clock position they were mounted in. Having also tried this at the range, it was too awkward of a position for me, but it may work for others. The representative stated that XS had considered making a version of the sights with a higher profile so it could be used by more shooters, but admitted it wouldn’t be any time in the near future.XS TI Sight 1

Overall these sights were a slight disappointment. XS’ good-willed attempt to build a low profile sight that doesn’t snag seems to have backfired somewhat by greatly limiting the number of shooters who can successfully contort themselves to use these sights. XS’ saving grace in this review was their awesome customer service who won’t leave you on hold and provides numerous potential solutions to your problems. If you absolutely must have these sights, at the very least purchase them from a place that has a good return policy in case they don’t work for you. These sights aren’t for me but I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase their other products based on their great customer service. It seems as though good customer service is hard to find these days so I must certainly give XS kudos for their success in this area.

Crossbreed SuperTuck Deluxe IWB Holster

Crossbreed SuperTuck Deluxe

By Mike Emert

The SuperTuck Deluxe is Crossbreed’s pride and joy. They claim that this is their most comfortable and most concealable holster in their collection. They are made with a Kydex construction riveted to a leather backing. The cool thing about Crossbreed is that you have the option to order it with horsehide when it’s in stock. Many people like the horsehide because it is more resistant to sweat. Having a dry gun on a hot day is preferred! The horsehide aids in this very well. The leather is cut in a design that is unique to Crossbreed and many people love it. If you want to fork over an additional $7.50 you can get the holster with a “Combat Cut” which basically takes more leather out from behind the grip, and is cut lower, and closer to the Kydex form. There is a row of 4 holes on each side of the holster to give you the option of raising or lowering your belt clips, independently. So if you want your handgun canted forward just raise the front clip and lower the back clip to your desired location. Pretty simple.SuperTuck Deluxe Clips The clips themselves are my biggest hang up with it. I should first say that Crossbreed offers different clip options for an additional $10. The ones that come standard are a very shiny black and are stamped with their logo. I love their logo but that and the shininess make the clips pretty noticeable when your shirt is tucked in. I personally wear brown belts most of the time so these are not the best clips for me, but I also usually wear my shirt un-tucked so they’re not much of a problem. I hope to transition to either the J-clips or V-clips soon. As far as the tucking goes, the clips are designed with a rubber spacer to create a separation between them and the leather to make tucking your shirt in a little bit easier. Just make sure you hang on to them when adjusting the height of the clips because they are separate pieces.

Midwest Industries Gen 2 SS FF Handguard

MI Gen 2 SS Handguard By Agent 95

As I began to think about building my next precision rifle, I realized I wanted something lightweight and reliable.  A rifle that I can run around with (If ever needed to) without carrying too much weight. With this in mind, I knew it would be nearly impossible to have a lightweight 20” rifle, but I would try to make it as light as possible while keeping the sexy look of the AR-15.  This is when I came across the Midwest Industries Gen 2 SS FF Handguard.

I’m sure most of you readers know or have heard about Midwest Industries and their customer service. With their reputation, I decided to pull the trigger on their handguard. One thing that really attracted me to this product was the price, the design and its weight. At the time of purchase, I knew this rail would fit the bill.

MI offers this rail in various lengths to fit the look you want for your AR-15. The lengths and weight of the rails they offer are 7” (7.1oz), 9” (8.3oz), 10” (8.6oz), 12” (9.3oz) and 15” (10.9oz).

The rail will come in a sealed hard plastic cover that includes the rail itself, three (3) modular rail sections including a bipod stud, MI barrel nut wrench and a MI proprietary barrel nut. The rail has 2 studs, which fits perfectly with the barrel nut to prevent any rotation. The barrel nut also has a checkered cut design that is designed to prevent rotation of the handguard.

Overall, the Midwest industries really hit the spot on this handguard. It’s lightweight, durable and easy to handle. Who wouldn’t want to get their hands on a piece like this?

Otis Ripcord

Otis-Ripcord-556.jpg

By Steve Remy

For anyone who has ever wished for a better one-pass cleaning cord/cable, it seems as though your wish has been granted, courtesy of Otis Technology.  Otis recently introduced the Ripcord which is a molded rubberized core wrapped in Nomex and capped off on each end by female 8-32 standard threads.  Upon pulling it out of the packaging, you can tell right away that it has many features that competing cords do not.

To begin with the core construction, you stand a minimal chance of breaking this device mid-pull through your barrel.  I securely attached one end of the Ripcord to my workbench and gave it several violent tugs but was unable to break the Ripcord.  I have broken a few competing bore cleaning devices where the pull cord attaches the cleaning section, but there really are no worries about that happening with your Ripcord.  The one piece core is fairly stiff which aids in placing the cord into the breech of your barrel.  It also has a helix shape which according to Otis, engages rifling through the length of the barrel.

The Nomex construction allows you to clean a hot barrel without the material melting, not that I regularly clean hot barrels, but it is nice to know that I can run this through my firearm right before I leave the range so it is one less thing I need to do when I get home.  No more waiting for your firearm to cool down.  My favorite feature of the Ripcord is the ability to attach any 8-32 standard thread attachment to either end of the device.  Instead of soaking the fibers themselves in cleaning solution or oil, I can simply attach a patchOtis Ripcord 556 holder to the end with a patch soaked in whatever cleaning solution or oil I choose.  I can also attach a bore brush to the end if the barrel was particularly dirty or needed an extra aggressive scrub after a day at the range.  This feature alone adds nearly unlimited versatility to the Ripcord.  In my opinion, this extends its service life since competing bore devices don’t give you the ability to change integrated bore brushes.

Pulling the Ripcord through the barrel requires a little bit of strength, which is good in my book because it means there is sufficient friction between the barrel and the Ripcord to clean the barrel as designed.  However, this is where my one bit of critical feedback lies.  I wish Otis would include one of their t-bar attachments with each Ripcord.  This would allow users with less than sufficient strength to still use the device by pulling on the t-bar instead of having to pull on the cord itself.  This addition would make the Ripcord a near-perfect bore cleaning device.

Overall, the Ripcord is a huge win for gun owners.  Its $14.99 MSRP is extremely reasonable and makes the decision to purchase one of these for each caliber of firearm you own an easy one.  Current available calibers are .22/.223/5.56, .308/7.63, .38/9mm, and .45.

North American Arms .22 LR Mini-Revolver

NAA .22LR Mini Revolver

By Ryan Michad

You can get many accessories for this gun, including a belt buckle holster and a folding grip/pocket clip to carry the revolver. If you live in an area where snakes are prevalent, you can load the revolver with shotshells to take care of those if the need arises.. The sights really aren’t that usable. This is truly a point and shoot weapon. It’s effective distance is typically no greater than ten feet. It is slow to reload, requiring you to pull the cylinder pin out and remove the cylinder. Then you have to punch out the empties manually with the cylinder pin. If you don’t have a proper hold on it, the gun tends to roll back in your hands on recoil.

Heckler & Koch USP .40 Compact

HK USP .40 Compact

By Steve Remy

The H&K USP .40 Compact is a highly reliable gun that I would have no problem entrusting my protection to.  I fired nearly 2,000 rounds down the barrel of this pistol with zero malfunctions of any sort.  The ammo ranged from brass to steel case, and ball to hollow point.  This particular model being reviewed is considered to be a “variant 1” meaning it has a de-cocking lever that doubles as a safety. This H&K can be carried in double action (DA) with the safety on/off, or be carried in single action (SA, cocked and locked) with the safety on/off.  The pistol is fired in either DA/SA mode or SA only.  These features alone allow a multitude of user carry configurations that will meet most people’s personal carry preference.

The HK grips well and feels extremely comfortable when firing.  For added comfort and as a personal preference, I chose to add a slip-on finger groove grip.  The ambidextrous magazine release is a bar across the front strap where the trigger guard and the front strap meet.  It is easy to access without rotating your hand to a mag release button as many left handed shooters must do with non-ambidextrous mag releases.

The gun is easy to disassemble by pushing out the slide release lever and moving the slide forward off of the frame.  The recoil spring is self contained meaning the spring is held in place on the spring guide by a small c-clip.  This only becomes a problem when the c-clip mysteriously disappears during a trip to the range and the spring flies off the guide rod when you begin your cleaning process.  As you can tell, this happened to me about 1,500 rounds through the gun.  Here is where it gets somewhat grim.  HK’s customer service was pretty dismal when I called them about the problem and asked for a replacement c-clip.  My first call was to HK’s main customer service line where I was connected with someone who determined this particular part was out of stock and was unsure of when it would be available.  Being out of stock is understandable in some situations, so I called my area HK law enforcement rep to see if he had any available for purchase.  I spoke with him and he indicated he had a few and could spare a couple to send me free of charge.  After taking my name and shipping address, I didn’t receive anything or hear from him for a couple of weeks.  All subsequent phone calls and messages went unreturned.  In my book this was unacceptable.  Luckily the gun still functions flawlessly without the c-clip, but reassembly after cleaning is now a frustrating and somewhat comical experience.  It takes three hands but unfortunately I only have two, so I am constantly annoyed by their lack of responsiveness.

The HK shoots as accurate as any other well-made compact pistol on the market, especially in the sub 10 yard fighting range where must gun fights happen.  The controls are smooth and easily activated but the trigger could use some work considering this gun will cost most people nearly $900-$1,000 after taxes and FFL fees.  The trigger was jumpy out of the box and never seemed to smooth out during the 2,000 rounds fired.  For the price of the gun I would expect the trigger to be butter smooth, especially knowing the quality engineering that went into producing this gun.

Overall the USP compact is very reliable and backed by a company known for producing high quality firearms.  However, with the price point being nearly $1,000, one must consider the ability to purchase at least two other handguns with similar reliability and functionality for the same amount of money.  There is somewhat of a novelty in owning an HK and many people have purchased one for themselves as a commemorative-type gift.  Being somewhat of a pragmatist if I had $1,000 devoted to purchase another handgun, I might opt in the future to purchase multiple handguns instead of one HK; afterall, isn’t two always better than one?

Streamlight Nano Light

Streamlight Nano By Devin Blystone

This is one of the most compact flashlights I’ve ever seen or used. It’s not the brightest flashlight but for its size, it’s more than adequate. I’ve used this flashlight for lighting up a lock, finding lost items, and to light my path in the dark. I can also attest to its claim to be weatherproof since I lost mine during the winter and found it after the snow melted, half buried in mud. A quick trip to the sink cleaned it up and showed that it was still working great.

Unfortunately this is a discontinued knife so there’s not a lot of availability. On the other hand, it’s a nice enough knife that I still carry it every day. With a quick application of a red and green sharpie to the safety so that its easy to tell if it’s engaged and it makes the knife and easy 8 or 9. Glock 20 Gen 4 10mm Auto

Glock 20 Gen 4 10mm

By Reed Snyder

I have always been a Sig Sauer enthusiast. When my sights strayed from the line of pistols that were my first love, they never fell on polymer pistols. I have however always been curious about the 10mm cartridge. Along my travels, I then developed an appreciation for the .357 Sig cartridge, a distant cousin to the 10mm. When Glock began phasing in the 4th generation of pistols, I found myself drawn to the G20. My desire to acquire a polymer pistol I once scoffed at was again strengthened as I discovered the range of aftermarket barrels that could be installed in the G20. The available barrels allow for the chambering of the .40 S&W as well as the venerable .357 Sig. I was sold, I had to own one. I began my search and failed to find an internet source that priced the pistols anywhere near retail. I was shocked to not only find one in stock at my Local Gun Store, but I found one that was priced to sell at the MSRP. I took my pistol to the range and I was very impressed with how the G20 tamed the 10mm cartridge. Glock and its products have earned a reputation for reliability and simplicity, and justifiably so. The G20 Gen 4 does not disappoint in this regard. The G20 is only slightly larger than the G17 in most of its dimensions and is not all that different in its handling. I am growing fonder of the polymer pistols as I spend more time with the G20 and make no mistake about it, I love my G20. However, I am reminded that the money I saved by buying a polymer pistol may have been in part due to the simplistic standard sights and the rather rough factory trigger. The aftermarket parts arena makes provision for a number of upgrades that can easily take the edge off my dissatisfaction with those two items. After spending time on the pistol, I would heartily recommend the G20 to anyone interested in the 10mm cartridge or a Glock enthusiast looking to complete their collection.

Beretta PX4 Storm Compact

Beretta-PX4.jpg

Beretta is one of the oldest gun makers in the world and I think the experience shows in this pistol. I’ve never had a FTF, FTE, or any kind of complications. Other than the things I don’t like listed below, I can’t complain. The stipling issue was easily overcome by using automotive grip tape, similar to that on skateboards. It can be found at Walmart and many hardware stores, and tutorials on how to apply it can be found on youtube. The take down and cleaning of it are easy as well. Beretta says they’ve used their experience with the M9 in sandy environments to produce a better functioning firearm. Unlike other manufacturers who crank out a new model every year they took their time to produce this masterpiece. Although it has some shortcomings, no product is perfect. It is a very reliable and accurate firearm that is great for conceal or open carry. I think this is one quality gun that I won’t be switching away from for a long time.
