Redfield Rampage Spotting Scope

rampage

For shooting past 100 yards, these eyes can use all the help they can get. A spotting scope is a good addition to the range gear so that you or a partner can see your groups/impacts at extended ranges. On the first outing with this optic my shooting guest was able to see the exact point of impact of a .308 bullet on a steel plate at 450 yards, to the inch.  Having a good spotting scope is also crucial for glassing the hills during a hunt or scouting session, which will definitely be the case this next fall for my Rampage.  When it comes to spotting scopes (or any optics in general) you really get what you pay for.  However with the Redfield Rampage kit, it seems you get just a little bit more bang for your buck.

The Rampage Kit comes with a soft carrying case, a small tripod, a soft scope cover, and covers for both the eyepiece and objective lenses.  Powered at 20-60 with a 60mm bell, it has enough power to see bullet holes at extended ranges.  It's just enough for me to clearly read street signs at 1,000 yards away, but edges are soft to be honest. I've used -$100 dollar spotting scopes from Simmons and Bushnell in the past, and this Redfield edges them out in glass clarity, but only just a bit.

You can certainly drop $300-500+ on a spotting scope and get something thats higher quality in alot of areas, but with a budget of $200 this is definitely a contender.

What others are saying?: "Love having the ability to quickly acquire my target shots from 100+ yards without having to strain my eyes with the rifle's scope or having to trek my way to the target for closer inspection. I chose Redfield because of their lower price point and the decent reviews I was reading. The tripod is on the light weight cheaper end but that seamed fairly typical for most spotting scopes which included one. The Velcro covering is nice but it takes awhile to get it all unzipped, flaps open and everything setup. The view was pretty clear up to the highest power then things start to get a little soft. Overall the scope does what I expected and I am very happy with my purchase." Optics Planet Review

I need it now! Availability: Optics Planet, Brownells

Our Rating:

+ Priced between the higher end and the lower end + Kit and carrying case included useful and good quality + Redfield/Leupold warranty

- Included bipod is rigid enough, but the adjustment/tightening isn't the best - Included carrying strap feels pretty cheap, I will propbably have something made in 550 cordage.

Score: 7.0 Good70

(This scope would have rated a 6.0-6.5 if not for the kit it comes with.)
